I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect re-releasing this book to be this hard. After the first run, I assumed another publisher would pick it up quickly, the re-release would be straightforward, and the tour would be handled. That didn’t happen.

I’m absolutely ecstatic the book is coming back out, there are still places and people this book needs to reach. But the path here has cost us more than I imagined: legal fees drained our savings and a chunk of my husband’s retirement, and many publishers rarely cover travel or publicity. While I spent months finding the right home for this book, I wasn’t able to sell books or earn income. I also underestimated the real cost of hiring a publicist, something I need so this book can reach schools, libraries, and media it deserves.

I self-funded my first tour and know how expensive travel, lodging, and event logistics are.

With legal bills behind me and a publicist on board, I’m rebuilding, and I need the community’s help to make a meaningful tour and press push possible.

The good news: I do have a publicist on board, and I already have tour stops confirmed in Boston, NYC, Houston, San Antonio, and Los Angeles. For additional promotion of the book, I have been invited to present my book to booksellers in Denver and Indianapolis. The hard part: making sure I can actually get there, stay there, and make the most of these opportunities without putting my family in a deeper hole.
